UTZ CERTIFIED is a sustainability program. It trains farmers how to produce professionally and sustainably, improving their quality of life, environment and products. UTZ means ‘good’ in the Mayan language Quiché. The UTZ CERTIFIED program trains farmers to become better businessmen. The results: better and constant product quality and yield, less costs and lower environmental impact, plus improved livelihoods. Sustainably grown and traceable products provide a better market position for farmers. This professional farming gives you the assurance of ‘good inside’ quality products, grown with care for people and the environment.
Carmien Tea is in association and partnership with Bergendal – the first UTZ certified Rooibos producer and processor. Since the inception of Carmien Tea, Bergendal became one of Carmien Tea’s key primary Rooibos producers, becoming Fairtrade certified by FLO Cert in 2004, Organic certified in 2005 and also receiving other quality certifications like GlobalGap, Nature’s Choice and BRC.
Carmien Rooibos is grown with care for people and the environment. Carmien Tea is registered as a buyer/trader.
